Possible Causes

Bright red blood (lower intestine or colon)

• Minor streaks on the stool surface – often due to dietary changes, low‑quality food, or stress.
• Diarrhea or constipation – straining can irritate the colon and cause slight bleeding.
• Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis – rapid, heavy bleeding; requires emergency veterinary care.
• Parvovirus, intestinal parasites, or rectal injuries (e.g., a bone puncture) – also produce bright red blood and need immediate attention.
