It is expected to reach 5 inches in length at their maturity. This growth is relative to the living conditions to which you keep your butterfly tail goldfish or the butterfly tail telescope goldfish. In a well maintained and large aquarium in which each fish can get ample space to swim or in a large outside goldfish pond there are fairly good chances that the butterfly tail goldfish or the butterfly tail telescope goldfish could outgrow this limit and can reach 7-8 inches in body length.

It is common for these goldfishes to live 10 plus years in a decent sized household aquarium. In a  large well-maintained aquarium or in an outdoor large goldfish pond they can exceed this limit by a fairly large margin. Many goldfish hobbyists have reported their butterfly tail goldfish or the butterfly tail telescope goldfish to have lived 15 plus years.

Butterfly tail goldfish care

It is a fancy variety of the goldfish. They are slow swimmers as their egg-shaped body limits their movement. They should have cared in a similar way as with the case of other fancy goldfish breeds. They should be kept in large aquariums if you intended to keep them in large numbers. Actually, a minimum of 20 liters is required for one fish then if you are looking forward to adding multiple fishes you need to add 10 liters of water capacity per butterfly tail goldfish or the butterfly tail telescope goldfish. Like other fancy goldfish breeds, they are also cold water and freshwater fish. You need to keep the temperature of your aquarium below 18-degree centigrade. A filter is must with some form of aeration or separate aeration will work equally well.
