  1. American Shorthair

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsYou guessed right! The American shorthair made it to the top of my list of most docile cat breeds.

A very calm and easy-going cat that is present in most homes in the U.S. They are also a good choice for first-time parents.

This cat will not require much from you. A little cuddling or rubbing in specific spots and ample playtime will do. They can entertain themselves when you’re not available.

You don’t want to miss this ever-loving and pleasant breed, trust me.

  1. Siamese

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsThe Siamese is also a docile cat. It is common too as you will find it in many homes.

Though they may be shy in the beginning, they come around once the bond has been created with their owners.

These low maintenance cats are intelligent and so can be trained. They are playful as well.

Siamese cats are curious, sociable, and loyal.

  1. Abyssinians

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsYes, the popular Aby made our list of most docile cat breeds.

They are playful and loving. These cats are fun to be with as they don’t mind playing all day.

However, they are not adaptable as they are sociable. They take their time to get used to a new environment.

Their origin can be traced back to Ancient Egypt. And they are most times referred to as clowns because of their excessive playful nature.

Additionally, Abyssinians are intelligent and so trainable. Introduce your pet to fetch games and other tricks to properly channel her energy.

  1. Somali

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsSomali cats are not only docile but super intelligent. They love to play and cuddle too.

Whenever you are available for it, these cats will not mind pouring you all their love. They also love it when the attention is reciprocated.

Somalis look a lot like Abyssinians, only they are prettier and their hairs are longer.

As mentioned, they are not only beautiful but smart as well. You can maximize their intelligence and train them into well-behaved pets and great pals.

Cat fetch toys will also make a good investment for this breed.

  1. Maine Coon

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsPopularly referred to as the gentle giant of the cat world, the Maine Coon cat is quiet and adaptable.

In the beginning, Maine Coons found pleasure chasing rodents in barns but nowadays, they make excellent additions to the families who adopt them.

They are people lovers and are always eager to please their owners. Their high intellect enables them to pick up tricks quickly.

They also enjoy playtime with family members and are often attracted to water.

If you have the space to spare, you should opt for this huge docile cat. You will also enjoy rubbing their hairy coat.

  1. Manx

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsThe sixth cat on my list is the Manx. Quite popular for its tailless body and accompanying round face.

Even without a tail, this cat is lively and playful. Its short hind legs enable it to bounce all the time.

Manx cats are very loyal and docile. They relate well with their family members and may not handle a change of ownership well.

These cats also love to bury and dig up toys. And that goes to say that mice will no longer be a problem when you adopt this cat.

In case you didn’t know, Manx is one of the oldest recognized cat breeds. It has some admirable dog traits too. This is one docile cat you should consider.

  1. Ragdoll

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsWe have here a human love that is cute too. The Ragdoll cat breed is popular for its calm nature and ability to relax on your laps for hours.

It has sparkling blue eyes, a light-coloured body with a darker face, legs, tail, and ears.

Ragdolls are docile and very affectionate. They are loyal too. Don’t be surprised if this cat follows you around all day or even greets you at the door.

Additionally, these cats are adaptable and love to play. Cuddling is their thing too.

They get along well with everyone in the home. Talk about the purrfect family pet!

Moreover, they are easy to groom. And they will not mind sharing the home with other pets.

  1. Ragamuffin

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsWe have here a popular Ragamuffin cat. And you won’t be wrong if you called it the twin of the ragdoll cat. Both breeds share the same ancestor and certain qualities.

Ragamuffins are very well behaved around kids, making them an excellent family pet. They are also patient enough to let you dress them up for tea parties.

And they can be so relaxed and gentle one could mistake them for a doll. Little wonder why it made my list of most docile cat breeds.

Furthermore, Ragamuffins will do well as apartment pets since they don’t demand much grooming and attention.

Nevertheless, every cuddling, stroke on the coat, and playtime will be largely appreciated.

  1. Persians

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsHere’s a super cute cat that made our list of most docile cat breeds.

This breed is one of the oldest yet very common and lovable.

Persian cats have superb personalities that you cannot ignore. They are playful and affectionate.

These cats relate very well with kids, making them a good family pet option.

Also, they love some peace once in a while. But they will also do well in a noisy environment so long as they feel loved.

Furthermore, their long and full coat demands daily brushing, combing, and cleaning. Not to worry though, these furballs are worth the energy.

Note also that this cat is an indoor cat, and should never be left outside alone.

  1. Exotic

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsThis cat is sometimes referred to as a relative to the Persian. And the similarities between these breeds cannot be bypassed.

Exotics look like Persians who have been stripped of their clothes (LOL).

They are docile and peaceful. As such, they make very loyal companions.

Exotics can relax on your laps for hours but they also love to play.

When compared to their Persian relatives, these cats will adapt faster to an active family.

Female exotics may be aloof sometimes but their male counterparts are just sweet.

These cats communicate in a soft and pleasant mew. They enjoy playing with toys together with their folks but they can also entertain themselves when no one is available.

Very lovable and low maintenance cats that will keep you happy all day.

  1. LaPerm

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsAnother good looking cat that made our list of most docile cat breeds is the LaPerm.

These cats have a curly coat that looks like they have been treated with an extra volume shampoo. And you can expect this coat in any popular cat pattern.

Furthermore, the LaPerm cat has a huge personality. They are happy, humorous, and calm.

This cat will give you joy if you give him the attention he requires. Gladly, they enjoy being cuddled and pampered.

Also, encouraging exercise and introducing toys that will stimulate your cat’s mind will keep the LaPem in its best condition.

They also enjoy spending time alone but this does not limit their affection to other family members in any way.

You may also find them observing you from a height. It’s common with this breed. A very docile cat that will give you no troubles.

  1. Birman

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsHere’s another interesting cat breed. It comes in chocolate, cinnamon, frost, red, blue, seal, cream, fawn, or lilac colour.

You can identify this cat from its silky coat that is long-haired and colour-pointed with white “gloves/socks” on each paw. It has deep blue eyes (maybe green or yellow in some).

Though the coat of this cat is high maintenance, you can handle it because the cat is always asleep.

Birmans are very docile and are usually bred as companion cats. These cats are not the type to seek attention or get jealous.

They are comfortable having other pets in the house. And they will not perturb if they find you busy or asleep.

  1. Japanese Bobtail

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsYou know this cat, don’t you? Its tail that looks more like rabbits will betray this breed anywhere.

In its native country, Japan, this cat is believed to bring good luck and prosperity.

It is intelligent and sociable which makes it easy to train. Don’t miss this cat if you are seeking an active cat to care for.

Japanese Bobtails are docile and love to interact with other family members.

  1. Bengal

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsBengal which is the favourite of most homes is also one of the most docile cat breeds.

Following its leopard ancestry, this cat has attractive coat patterns and is full of energy.

They are docile and easy to train. Playtime with parents is a session that this bred looks forward to.

Also, Bengals do not mind sharing the home with other pets. Get this cat if you are looking for a friendly cat that will follow instructions.

  1. Chantilly

15 Most Docile Cat Breeds: A Guide to Peaceful PetsThe last cat breed that made my list is the Chantilly.

Not quite popular but one of the most docile.

Sometimes referred to as Tiffany, this cat is well behaved.

It doesn’t subscribe to the extreme of any attitude or activity.

It is moderately active, affectionate, and a bit funny. This breed makes a good choice for first-time parents.
