Company Announcement

On February 24, 2026, Elite Treats, LLC. of Boca Raton, FL announced a recall of a single lot of its “Elite Treats Chicken Chips for Dogs” 6‑ounce bags. The recalled product, packaged in a black and gold bag marked with lot number 24045 and an expiration date of 04/2027, may contain Salmonella.

Salmonella poses a serious health risk to both pets and humans. Pets that consume contaminated treats can develop symptoms such as lethargy, diarrhea (including bloody stools), fever, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Humans may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), abdominal cramping, and fever. In rare cases, the infection can progress to arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, or urinary tract issues, especially in the young, elderly, or immunocompromised.

Potential exposure routes include direct handling of the recalled treats, contact with pets that have eaten the treats, or touching surfaces that have been in contact with the product—such as bowls, utensils, or countertops. Proper hand hygiene and thorough cleaning of all affected surfaces are essential to prevent transmission.

So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. The contamination was first detected when a third‑party laboratory tested a related, unreleased batch and found Salmonella.

The recalled items were distributed to Florida Hardware, LLC, which supplied them to pet‑food retailers across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Consumers who own 6‑ounce bags stamped with lot 24045 should immediately stop using the product. Do not sell or donate the recalled treats. Dispose of the product safely so that children, pets, or wildlife cannot access it. Clean and sanitize all pet‑food bowls, cups, and storage containers, and wash your hands thoroughly after handling the recalled food.

To return the recalled product for a refund or replacement, contact Elite Treats at [email protected] or call 561‑901‑5310, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM EST.
