Wales, WI — Foodynamics, a trusted leader in premium freeze‑dried pet nutrition, has voluntarily recalled specific lots of its Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, and Kanu Pets products after FDA sampling detected Salmonella. The contamination poses a risk to pets that consume the treats and to humans who handle the products, particularly if hand hygiene is inadequate.

Infected individuals may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (including bloody diarrhea), abdominal cramps, and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can lead to more severe complications such as arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract issues. Anyone exhibiting these symptoms after exposure should seek medical care.

Pets infected with Salmonella may show lethargy, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Infected but otherwise healthy animals can become carriers and spread the bacteria to other pets or humans. If your pet has consumed a recalled product and shows any of these signs, contact a veterinarian immediately.

The recalled items were shipped from Wisconsin via UPS to retailers in Wisconsin, New York, and Florida, with a total of 7 packages distributed to consumers in these regions.

Raw Dog Barkery – 4 packages (3 oz. and 16 oz. / 1 lb.) with “Use By” dates (Lot #) on the back label. Distributors included SimplyDried Treats, Magpies Gourmet Dog Treats, and What’s In the Bowl Delafield (WI).

BellePepper Cats – 2 packages sold in New York, 3 oz. plastic bags labeled “Freeze‑Dried Chicken Heart Slices” with “Use By” sticker 031627. Additional Lot #s 121426 and 011526 may have been offered as sample treats.

Kanu Pets – 1 package sold in Florida, 3 oz. plastic bag labeled “Freeze‑Dried Chicken Heart Raw Treats” with Lot # 031627.

Foodynamics traced 100 % of distribution within hours of the recall notice and has notified all direct customers. No adverse health effects have been reported in pets or humans to date.

The recall follows FDA findings of Salmonella. Production and distribution of the affected products have been halted while Foodynamics collaborates with the FDA to investigate the source.

All retailers that purchased these products have been instructed to inspect their inventory and quarantine any affected items. Retailers will receive a full refund. Consumers are urged to return the recalled products immediately for a refund. Do not feed the recalled treats to pets or other animals. Dispose of them so children, pets, and wildlife cannot access them. Do not sell or donate the recalled items. Wash and sanitize all pet food bowls, cups, and storage containers. Always wash your hands after handling recalled food, utensils, and surfaces that touched the products.
