Official Recall Statement
Mount Morris, Mich. – Best Buy Bones, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of four lots of its Nature’s Own Bully Bites dog treats after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed Salmonella contamination during routine testing.
The affected products are sold in 16‑ounce resealable pouches (11” × 9.5” × 3.5”) and bear a “Best Buy” date of September 2027 on a tag at the bottom of the bag.
Health Implications for Pets and Humans
Salmonella can cause lethargy, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, vomiting, and abdominal pain in dogs. Healthy pets may become asymptomatic carriers, potentially transmitting the bacteria to other animals or humans. In people, symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever; severe cases can lead to bloodstream infections or complications such as arthritis or urinary tract problems.
Owners who notice any of these signs in their pets—or in themselves after handling the recalled treats—should seek veterinary or medical attention promptly.
Testing Results
The FDA collected samples on 11 Sept 2025 and detected Salmonella in the product. A total of 34 bags (1‑pound packs) were distributed in Minnesota and sold in Wisconsin after 23 Sept 2025. No canine illnesses have been reported to date.
