Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey

Submitted August 7, 2018 My love for Ragdolls began somewhat unknowingly. When I was younger, I was much more of a dog person. But, my childhood friend had ragdoll cats and I remember them being the sweetest things in the world, almost dog like and super affectionate. As I grew up, my love for cats grew and I knew that when I graduated undergrad and moved into my apartment I wanted to get a kitten. Unfortunately, I had to wait another year before adding a fur baby to my family because my current roommate was allergic and I did not want to do that to her, or to my cat since that meant she’d have to stay in my room. Over that year, when I was suffering through my first year of law school and desperately needed a calming presence through my sleepless nights, I started desperately researching breeds of cats and about being a cat parent in general. Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey That’s when I remembered the ragdoll breed! I then searched my area for ragdoll breeders, found some duds and straight sketchy breeders and ended up putting a deposit down for a female ragdoll kitten with Beauty Doll Ragdolls in Ventura. Kristen was the most helpful and patient breeder, answering all of my questions that I didn’t care that I would have to make the five-hour drive from San Diego! Miss Maisy was born on April 24, 2018 and is now 15 weeks old! She is a blue mitted ragdoll and we think that she has a blaze peeking through! I have always loved the name Maisy, and when I saw a picture of her, the name fit like a glove! But because my family is extra, and I have three middle names, I knew I had to give Maisy a long name to match, so her full name is Miss Maisy Marie DiCaprio! Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey Oh the months of waiting for my baby girl to come home were so hard! But in the meantime, Maisy became famous on instagram, hitting 1,000 followers before her arrival at @maisy_theragdoll. Also, our family grew even bigger as my new roommate moved in with her two, boy ragdoll/Turkish angora mixed kitties! The boys began exploring their new home and about a month later, I made my way up to Ventura to pick up my little girl! Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey We’ve had a rough couple of first weeks health wise because it turned out she picked up a bout of Giardia when she went to the clinic get spayed, but other than having some tummy issues, she’s been a normal, crazy, energetic kitty! A big thank you to Jenny from Floppycats for answering all of my emails as I was being a anxious new cat mom! Luckily, we found out the issue and she is feeling much better after her and the boys got treated! Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey Maisy’s favorite things to do so far have been running around like a mad woman, chasing and pouncing on her brothers like a fearless kitty, and making it known that she may be tiny, but she is the boss! She loves playing with her feather toys, her Yeowww banana, and her favorites right now are her sushi toys, her Miss Caroline Bee wands from Etsy and any other feather wand. Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey Maisy, Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Heartwarming Journey Maisy is always trying to find new places to sleep, including the tops of chairs and anywhere near Mom. Luckily momma works from home so Maisy’s absolute favorite place to sleep is on top of mom’s trial transcripts and computer, but that has made her a very good little office worker and potentially a future kitty lawyer!
