What Is Gene Editing?

Gene editing uses molecular tools—most famously CRISPR‑Cas9—to locate precise sections of DNA and make targeted changes. Think of it as a sophisticated “find and replace” function for living cells.

These edits can:

The Ethical Landscape

Supporters argue that removing painful, incurable diseases is a compassionate use of technology. Critics warn that we may be crossing a line into “designer pets,” manipulating traits for aesthetic or performance reasons rather than health.

Additional concerns include:
