Texas Woman Survives 8‑Pit‑Bull Attack, Shares Shocking Experience

In a shocking incident in Texas, 52‑year‑old Michelle Means survived a violent assault by eight pit bulls that left her with severe facial and limb injuries. The attack also wounded her pregnant daughter and 13‑year‑old son.

Means recounts that she was outside when the dogs launched an unprovoked onslaught. She was hit on the head, neck, arms, and legs, and one dog severed her lower lip, requiring immediate surgical reattachment. A piece of her cheek was also lost, necessitating complex skin‑tissue repair.

“I was terrified I wouldn’t survive,” she told Fox 26. “They started biting my head, my neck, my arms, my legs. I felt like I was about to die.”

Pit Bulls Attack Family

The dogs attacked without warning. “I saw a brown and white dog look at me, and something snapped in its eyes. It leapt forward and grabbed my face. Within seconds another grabbed my calf and I fell to the ground,” Means explained.

The ferocity of the attack left her with 180 stitches and 90 staples. A bystander intervened with a shovel, frightening the animals and preventing further harm.

After the assault, Means and her children were rushed to the hospital for multiple surgeries, including reconstructive procedures to restore her facial structure.

She urges the public to remember that a dog’s temperament can change rapidly, even if it appears calm. “Even if a dog looks friendly, it doesn’t guarantee it will remain so. Owners must exercise vigilance and adhere to Texas regulations that require proper containment and supervision,” she said. “I don’t blame the owners, but I would hate for anyone else to experience what I did.”
