Purebred vs Mixed Breed: Which Dog Is Right for You?

Purebred Or Mixed Breed?

There are owners on both sides of the argument.  Before you adopt that puppy, there are specific differences that you may want to consider:

Purebred Puppies

  • Their behavior & prospective health problems are more predictable based on their breed.
  • It can be more expensive because of their breed and also because they are purebred.
  • Since you know the background of their particular breed, you can save a lot on training fees.
  • Purebreds have a higher chance of being born with inherited congenital diseases.

On the other hand:

Mixed Breed Puppies

  • They are less expensive than their purebred friends.
  • Many owners believe mixed breeds are less likely to display temperament or health issues.
  • Their size & how long they live is unpredictable.
  • They may adapt sooner to their environment.
  • Since they are mixed breeds, it’s like having two dog breeds in one pet.

There are advantages to having both a mixed breed and a purebred pet.  The bottom line is a pet, no matter what purebred or mixed breed can add years to our lives.  How a puppy turns out will depend on how it’s raised.  Give it lots of love and attention.  He will reward you by being a good boy.
