Meet Luna: The Charming Ragdoll Cat of the Week

Hi, I would like to introduce the light of my life and my first Ragdoll Luna. I was keeping track of Luna for a while on a forum, but no one seemed to give her that spot in their house. So when I saw she was still available at 16 weeks I couldn’t stop myself anymore and I decided to take the step and call the breeder for an appointment.

The day of the appointment came around and I was so excited to go meet her. I arrived at the breeder’s house and Luna was everything you would expect in a Ragdoll. A sweet endearing personality, followed you around everywhere, very accepting of other cats. Just simply a joy to be around. Before I forget my Luna was sold to me as a seal tortie mitted Ragdoll, she later turned out to be a seal torbie mink mitted. So I decided to take her home with me. And as I immersed myself more in the Ragdoll world and the world of showing cats I fell completely in love with the breed and with Luna.

It might sound silly but in a way she feels like my cat soulmate, she understands me like no other, she knows when I am down or stressed and when I need her to cheer me up. And right at such a time she will do something silly and lift my mood. I under encouragement of the breeder started showing with Luna and I must say it strengthened our bond a lot more. Because in such a stressful environment you need to be your cats rock, you will be the one the cat turns to if it is scared or stressed. But Luna was a natural even though she is not perfect according to the breeding standard (her chin is only half white), she has a way of charming the judges with her personality.

I started getting more into Ragdolls (read getting more addicted to this breed). And I found myself scouring the internet and buying books to find out more about the Ragdoll and how it came about. Because I was fascinated and completely smitten with the breed I knowing a heap more about the Ragdoll breed because of showing and making connections to some good breeders decided this is what I wanted to do. To breed these lovely balls of fluff. It was a very conscious decision I knew very well breeding was not the easy path most people believe it is. It is actually quite difficult to do it well and it isn’t something that will make you rich. But having the honor of breeding these lovely cats receiving your love putting your all in it and have people to share it with, people who also look forward to your litters.

It is my passion in life, even though Luna is not my breeding queen and she is retired from the show ring she enjoys everyday life with me and vice versa. And helps the new additions in the house, for instance when I got my first breeding queen (Lemon, a blue tortie mitted), Luna was okay with her from the moment the carrier opened. She gave Lemon a bath, played with her, she even tried to nurse Lemon.

Even now with my second addition to the cattery coming in (Vivienne a seal bicolor), Luna accepted her instantly. And I love her for it, she is a caring loving cat and her manners and behaviour seems to rubb off on the rest.

She is my shadow and I am very blessed to spend every day with her. I hope she will stay with me for many years to come.
